January 27 - the anniversary of complete removal of the Nazi blockade

Today, St. Petersburg celebrates the 68th anniversary of the complete removal of the Nazi blockade. More than a hundred events will take place throughout the city, and the first will be the ceremony of laying flowers to the house 14 on Nevsky Prospect. At this house since war time one can see the memorial plaque “Citizens! When shelling this side of the street is the most dangerous”.

 Memorable bouquets and wreaths will be laid on Seraphimovskoje, Piskarjovskoje, Bogoslovskoje and Smolenskoje cemeteries. The most spectacular must be the ceremony at Victory Square. After the traditional laying of wreaths and flowers youth\\\'s organizations will release into the sky of St. Petersburg 900 red balloons, symbolizing the 900 days of blockade. This action will be attended by several hundred volunteers, veterans, schoolchildren and members of the government of St. Petersburg. Everyone in St. Petersburg is invited to take part in the “Candle of Memory” action.
